Name: Templeton Arthur Peck
Nickname: Face
Rank: 1st Lieutenant (O-2)
Date Of Birth: 7th December 1950 (according to the episode “Trial By Fire”, however Face probably didn’t know his real date of birth.)
SSN: 522-70-5444C
Height: 5’11”
Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck is a member of the A-Team, a group of ex-United States Army Special Forces who are unjustly accused of a crime during the Vietnam War. Managing to escape from the military police, they flee to Los Angeles, where as fugitives, the A-Team works as soldiers of fortune, using their military training to fight oppression or injustice. Face, along with Hannibal Smith, B.A. Baracus, and H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock make up the A-Team.
In the pilot episode ("Mexican Slayride: Part 1"), Face is described as follows by a reporter colleague of Amy Allen: "Templeton Peck, known as the Faceman. In and out of trouble. An orphan from L.A. This guy is Mr Ricky-Ticky. A con man. A real operator." Suave, smooth-talking, and hugely successful with women, Peck is dubbed "Face" because of his handsome good looks and ability to talk anyone out of (or into) anything, which are essential to the team's survival and operations.
Because of his talent as a con artist, Face generally lives the high life, staying in ritzy apartments and wearing expensive suits. He drives a custom white 1984 Corvette sports car with red interior and a red stripe (to match B.A.'s van), which is equipped with a CB radio and a mobile phone. The licence plate was IHJG851 and it was the only one that appeared on the car. He is also an expert at picking locks. B.A. once said (in the episode “Labor Pains”) that if Hannibal hadn't put Face on the team, he would probably be in jail, which Face confirmed.
Face is effectively 2nd in command (although Murdock, as a Captain, is technically a higher rank, but is officially insane), he uses his skills to get supplies for the team, appropriate equipment and obtains information using various cons and scams.
Face isn’t too keen on hand-to-hand combat and often has to yell for B.A. to help him. Nonetheless, in some episodes Face shows considerable fighting prowess, handling numerous opponents on his own. Face will often leap at his enemies in an effort to work them down to the ground. In numerous episodes, he teams with Murdock to take down enemies.
Face seems to love running stuff on Hannibal's movies...from the catering (e.g. Taywood Catering), to organizing films, being a booking agent, working in a museum on monster wax heads etc. and according to the episode “Cowboy George” he once took an entertainment accounting course.
Background:
Face was abandoned at the age of five and couldn’t remember his parents or his real name. He grew up in orphanages in the L.A. area. One of the orphanages was called Sacred Heart (run by Father David Magill) which is part of the St. Batholowmew’s Church and Angel Guardians (mentioned in the episode “Beneath The Surface.”).
At Angel Guardians Face was friends with Barry Greene. Face used to scam Barry all the time, but one scam lead to Barry being adopted instead of Face. He also had a crush on a girl called Rebecca Piper. He would meet her again in the episode “Beneath The Surface” where she would try and hand him over to the military for a $10,000 reward. Face also knew Deborah Garrety and Bobby Moore from the orphanage. Apparently, the best place to make out at Angel Guardians was around the pond.
As a kid Face wanted to be a police officer and loved the TV show Dragnet. Face played softball on the orphanage team and won the Orphanage League Softball Championship leading to him becoming very popular with the girls at St. Theresa's when he was 13.
He attended St. Mary's High School and was an all-city football champion as the team quarterback. He employs this knowledge to coach orphans in “The Bells of St. Mary's” , and again in the episode "Quarterback Sneak". A nun at St. Mary's High School named Sister Katherine knew him from his days in school on the football team. He graduated High School in 1968 and then spent two years in college, joining the Sigma Chi Fraternity, but left after his sophomore year.
In the episode “Family Reunion” we discover that Face’s Father is A.J Bancroft and that his Mother was called Samantha. According to A.J., Face’s real name is Richard Bancroft. He was named Richard after A.J.’s Father. Face also discovers he has a half-sister called Ellen.
Romance:
Face being the team’s ladies man would often get the girl, but the end of the episode usually saw him managing nothing more than a quick kiss before having to jump into the van as the team made their escape from the Military Police.
One episode, “Till Death Us Do Part”, saw Face getting married in the line of duty to Jackie Taylor in order to save her inheritance. This leaves Face feeling very uncomfortable as he hates the C word (commitment). At the end of the episode their marriage is annulled.
In the episode “Hot Styles” Face is dating Rina Turian. This is one of the more serious relationship we see Face in. We also discover that she has a small son in the episode.
In the episode “The Only Church In Town” we learn that Face had dated Leslie Bektall 15 years earlier in college. He had seriously considered asking her to marry him, however, she suddenly dumped him and disappeared after he’d given her his fraternity pin. In the episode we learn that she’d become a nun, an ambition she’d held for some years before. Face implies that this was event that lead to his dropping out of school and joining the Army, where he would eventually meet the rest of the team. In the episode she needs his help so she sends him back his fraternity pin. Face has to convince the rest of the team that she must be in trouble. They agree to go and find her. She reveals that she has followed his military career closely and continues to pray for him every night. After helping her, Face leaves his fraternity pin with her once more and they part amicably.
Military History:
Face joined the military in either ‘69 or ‘70. In the episode “Beast From The Belly of a Boeing” Face mentions to Hannibal being on leave in 1969, however, the episode “The Bells Of St. Mary’s” shows that Face was in High School in 1968 and in the episode “The Only Church In Town” Face mentions joining the army after his sophomore year in college, which would be 1970.
Face was a 1st Lieutenant (O-2) and served with the 1st Air Cavalry and 5th Special Forces (Airborne). In Vietnam he joined Hannibal’s team and became their Supply Officer. He soon made a name for himself by getting whatever the team needed. On one occasion he managed to obtain a 1953 pink Cadillac convertible in the jungles of ‘Nam, much to the amazement of the rest of the team. He also operated an Officer/NCO club in Vietnam called the DMV Tennis and Racket Club, patterned after the Beverly Bay Country Club from Members Only. He also mentions once “acquiring” a villa in Saigon by pretending to be Vietnamese royalty.
His medals were: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defence Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (which he shouldn't have worn and was created after the Team went on the run), Republic of Vietnam Medal of Honor, Overseas Service Ribbon. Wore the Paratrooper wings and Combat Infantry badge.
His unit citations were: Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Army Presidential Unit Citation.
His FBI File # is 451-5683-2 and JAG File # is A-557-9914 Code 19A-51R.
Aliases:

Bancroft and that his birth name is Richard, and he has a half-sister named Ellen. His assumed names in order are Alvin Brennar, Al Brennan, Al Peck, Holmes Morrison, Morrison Holmes, and finally Templeton Arthur Peck. He also used many aliases during scams.
Other Countries:
In some Spanish speaking countries, his nickname is "Fas", coming from Fascinador (fascinater) as it was stated in the pilot episode dubbed 'Operacion A.T' (operation A.T), and 'Black Day at Bad Rock' among many, many others. In Spain, however, his nickname was simply "Fenix" ("Phoenix"). In Italy he was called "Sberla" ("Slap"). In Brazil, his nickname was "Cara-de-Pau".
