The A-Team is a group of ex-United States Army Special Forces who were wrongly convicted of a crime during the Vietnam War. Managing to escape from the military police, they fled to Los Angeles, where as fugitives, the A-Team work as soldiers of fortune, using their military training to fight oppression or injustice. B.A., along with Hannibal Smith, Templeton "Faceman" Peck, and H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock make up the A-Team.

In the pilot episode ("Mexican Slayride: Part 1"), B.A. is described as follows by a reporter colleague of Amy Allen: "Bosco Baracus. Known as B.A. for 'bad attitude.' The man is a mechanical genius. He also has one of the worst conduct records in the army. He likes to slug officers."

B.A. is the A-Team’s hard man and mechanical genius. Hannibal once said to B.A., "With a pair of pliers and a little time, you could fix anything but dinner." He’s also adept at hand-to-hand combat, often lifting his opponents over his head and hurling them into the air. He’s usual response to anyone annoying him is a growl and a scowl. Murdock is often on the end of the receiving end of the “big ugly mud suckers” rage and B.A. is often heard to say “Shut up, fool” when he’s had enough of Murdock’s nonsense. B.A. and Murdock share the same blood type: AB negative and in the episode Black Day At Bad Rock Murdock gives B.A. an emergency transfusion after he is shot, leading Murdock to tease B.A. by telling him that his blood will make him mental.

He wears a lot of jewellery, including numerous gold chains, rings and gold and feathered earrings. His pride and joy is his customized 1983 GMC Van, painted black and grey with a red stripe, black and red rims, and a rooftop spoiler. He is very protective of his van and won’t let anyone else drive it.

He’s never seen drinking alcohol and instead prefers to drink milk. B.A. loves kids and volunteers at a youth centre in L.A. He has a phobia about flying and the team often have to drug him or knock him out in order to get him on a plane. He isn’t too crazy about lizards, snakes and crocodiles either.

Background:

B.A. grew up in Chicago. He was given a toy car by his father as a child on which he used to “scoot” around the apartment which lead to B.A. being given the nickname of “Scooter.” (Don’t call him this though as he’s liable to hit you). As a kid B.A was friends with Danny, Tommy Wilson and Wanda Taylor. He was also friends with Deborah, who ended up marrying Jason Duke.

He played football in high school, and was part of the defense. He was team captain after quarterback Jason Duke left the team. He wanted to play football in college, but his scholarship papers were torn up by T.J. Bryant, and he went into the Army instead.

Military:

B.A. is a Sergeant First Class (E-7). He entered the army at 18 after failing to get a college football scholarship. He was the team's weapons and munitions officer in Vietnam. He served with the 1st Air Cavalry and 5th Special Forces (Airborne). He has worn the Paratrooper wings as well as Combat Infantry Badge. He and Hannibal mined have bridges in Vietnam using their scuba diving skills and also did a 2 man patrol in Cambodia.

His ribbons were: Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Medal of Honor and Unit Citations for Vietnam allantry Cross, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation. The medals for all Team members were notorious for being totally inaccurate at times.
